London Police are looking into the city’s fifth homicide of 2011 and the second one in four days.
On Tuesday (Oct. 11), just before 2 a.m., an emergency call was made requesting an ambulance for a man who was shot at Clarke Road, north of Culver Drive.
The victim was rushed to hospital, but later died of his injuries. An autopsy Tuesday confirmed the preliminary cause of death was a gunshot wound.
London’s fifth homicide victim of the year has been identified as 40-year-old Thi Tran of London.
The Major Crime Squad and Forensic Identification Unit was called to help in the investigation and as of Tuesday, blocked off the entranceway to K’s Sports Lounge and Grill, at 609 Clarke Rd., looking for clues in the parking lot covered in large spots of blood stains.
Three women and two men, all from London, were taken into custody for questioning the day of the shooting to try to determine what, if any, their involved was in the shooting. No charges had been laid by London Community News deadline on Tuesday.
“In custody means that we’ve got these people, but we don’t know that they’re involved or, if they are involved, what their involvement is,” said Const. Dennis Rivest. “There’s people that we have in custody right now, we’re going to talk to them and determine whether or not they’re involved. If they’re involved then we’ll classify them as suspects.”
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Tuesday’s shooting follows an incident on Friday (Oct. 7), where 20-year-old David Arbuckle was shot and killed in the Wellington and Hill streets area. Police are currently searching for two suspects in the Arbuckle homicide.

What a terrible weekend for the city. My condolences to both the Arbuckle and Tran families.
