Climbing Mount Everest is a daunting feat, accomplished by few. But on Saturday (June 2), 40 London firefighters made the task seem somewhat simpler.
Making the trek up an eight-metre ladder beside the Covent Garden Market tower, the group combined to make a total of 1,100 climbs up the ladder — equal to the 8,800-metre height of Mount Everest — with the goal of raising money for the fight against muscular dystrophy.
London fire fighters plan to make the Climb for a Cure an annual event, adding to the in excess of $550,000 it has raised during more than 20 years of fundraising towards research, education, support, services and equipment grants for individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy.
