It could probably best be described as a play day for grown-ups. On Saturday (June 23), 24 teams from 23 local businesses rose to the occasion and answered the call, participating in the 2012 Corporate Challenge.
Held in support of the Sunshine Foundation, this was the second year the event has been staged after coming out of a five-year hiatus.
Staged at The Robarts School, teams went head-to-head in a series of 10 fun challenges made up of relays, obstacle courses and one that could probably be best described as a slippery splash pad with squirt guns and inner tubes.
Between volunteers, committee members and the actual participants themselves, approximately 600 people participated in the event.
With hopes of making it even bigger again next year, Corporate Challenge committee member Michael Myles said that it even with the months of planning and preparation by both organizers and volunteers, it is all worth it in the end.
He said they raised about $70,000 for the Sunshine Foundation from the event in 2011 and were expecting to hit that mark again this year.
“It is just a lot of fun and it goes to a great cause.”
