A comfortable pair of shoes are something many of us take for granted but if you're homeless, they are often a luxury.
On Wednesday (Oct 17), staff representing London’s three BioPed stores, were at the Salvation Army’s Centre of Hope, handing out new and gently used footwear and socks to members of London’s homeless population.
Called Dignity Day, it was part of a nation-wide project initiated by BioPed aimed at promoting good foot health, self-esteem and providing properly fitting footwear to those in need.
Roger, a resident at The Centre of Hope, was one of the first in line for a pair of shoes. Not only grateful his new footwear, Roger said that having a comfortable pair of properly fitting shoes is something that is “really helpful.”
In all, 230 pairs of shoes and socks were distributed through Wednesday’s event.
