There was a big surprise waiting behind the door of their Lambeth home for Heather Bowman and her husband Cyrus Hsia when the returned from a weekend away on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 18).
On Thursday night, (Nov. 15), with their two children Jenyvette and Maitlyn, the couple handed over their house keys to a group of eight London business women, who working almost non-stop over the weekend, transformed the family’s home.
The idea for the home makeover project came about when the women — Sylvie Roth, Rebecca de Witte, Sue-Anne Richardson-Siarto, Betsi Simmons, Julie Smyth, Alyson Moulton, Kamini Le Capelain, Erin Bronthron and Mary Dunn — had decided to work together to donate a prize for the eighth annual Braz for the Cause fundraiser, which was held back in October.
Calling themselves Boobs on the Bus, the ladies put together a package that included painting, organizing, re-organizing, family portraits, a catered party for 25 and a top to-bottom house cleaning to be auctioned off at the event, valued at $22,000.
“When I heard the auctioneer give his schpeel, all I heard was painting,” said Bowman.
After meeting briefly with Roth and Simmons, Bowman and Hsia knew they were in good hands so they said to them “Do what you like.”
Judging by the expressions on their faces when they walked back in on Sunday, they definitely like what they saw with work having been done to the entranceway, livingroom, bedrooms, bathroon, diningroom and best of all, the kitchen.
“This is a very pleasant surprise,” said Hsia. “What they have done here is amazing, we are just stunned.”
