Take a stroll through Victoria Park and enjoy the glittering display of more than more than 75,000 lights that begins with the Lighting of the Lights ceremony. The 2011 event is scheduled for Friday (Nov. 25) at 6:15 p.m. with the lights being turned on at 6:40 p.m.
This year is extra special as London is hosting The Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay end of day celebration during the Lighting of the Lights. The final medal bearer will enter Victoria Park at approximately 6:30 p.m. and address the crowd on stage.
There's also an opportunity to enjoy a panoramic "bird's eye" view of the Winter Wonderland from the promenade deck at City Hall. Beginning Friday, the 12th floor promenade deck will be open to the public from 5 to 11:00 p.m. throughout the week, except for Dec. 5, 6, 12, 19, 20, 25, 25 and 31 and Jan. 1, 2012.
The final evening for the lights to shine is New Year’s day following the culmination of the Forest City's holiday festivities — Celebrate London: Rockin' New Year's Eve.
Victoria Park's festive displays and outdoor skating rink are a longstanding tradition in London's celebration of the holiday season. The skating rink is open daily for free public skating daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. , with a one-hour closing for ice resurfacing from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m
