Sifton uses webcam to track building progress

London Community News

Construction on the northeast corner of Oxford Street and Hyde Park Road is underway, but the public won’t have to be there to watch it all happen. Webcams at the site will track the progress of Sifton’s newest commercial building until its completion this fall. The webcam, which operates 24 hours a day, was installed as a tool to help Sifton, building contractors, as well as the new tenants, The Spectacle Company and Rogers, manage the progress at the site as well as a way for London residents to watch what is happening in their city. “This is a great way to show London residents what is involved in completing a construction project like this,” says Mike Riffel, vice-president of commercial leasing at Sifton Properties Limited. “Sifton is re-entering the area of mixed use commercial building with the development of this location. This building will feature a unique contemporary design and upgraded features for The Spectacle Company and Rogers.” Paul Masse, president at MCI Design-Build Corporation, also praised the use of the webcams. “Using a webcam is a great way for us, as contractors, to manage the progress and safety of a site,” Masse said. “It also provides us with another way to communicate between our office and the building site, which is a huge benefit for decision making.” The building currently under construction will be the second building on the site, which is already home to an A&W Restaurant. The Spectacle Company and Rogers will begin installing their interior fixtures this fall. To watch the progress live, visit www.sifton.com/commercialleasing.
