New heat alert issued
London Community News
With Tuesday (July 17) expected as the hottest day of the summer so far, the Middlesex-London Health Unit has issued its fifth heat alert for 2012.
The forecast for Tuesday is a daytime high of 35 C and Environment Canada’s humidex advisory calls for humidex values close to 45.
A humidex value of more than 40 is one of the triggers for a heat alert.
The alert will only be in effect for Tuesday, the health unit stated in a media release, as a cold front is expected to move through the region Wednesday, bringing slightly cooler and drier conditions with it.
City of London pools, splash pads and community centres can provide relief from the heat and a complete list of these locations and hours can be found at www.london.ca.
