Shelter hears Sirens' call to the tune of $5,000
London Community News
Thanks to a rumbling column of roughly 90 motorcycles ridden by ladies with big hearts and big bikes, a London shelter for abused woman and their children has roughly $5,000 more for its programs.
The first annual Iron Sirens Riding Club for Chicks charity run ripped across the city Saturday (Aug. 18), beginning at the Bellamere Winery and ending at Major’s Restaurant, with all proceeds going to Women’s Community House.
Christina Hopkins, president and founder of the 200-member motorcycle club for women, said roughly 200 people came out to celebrate with the 90 riders following the run.
The club was formed in 2010 and has four chapters across the province.
It is also the only women’s riding club certified by the Ontario Confederation of Clubs.
