The Forest City’s unemployment rate didn’t flinch between July and August, newly released Statistics Canada data shows.
The Labour Force Survey released Friday (Sept. 7) for August states London’s unemployment rate was 8.6 per cent.
While there was no change in the rate from the previous month, there was a slight improvement over August of 2011, when the city’s unemployment rate was 8.9 per cent.
Across Ontario, 25,000 jobs were lost last month and the province’s unemployment rate was eight per cent.
Nationally, 34,000 jobs were added last month, mostly due to increases in part-time work, and Canada’s unemployment rate remained unchanged from July at 7.3 per cent.
