Providing gardening advice

London Community News

By Sean Meyer/London Community News/Twitter: Newswriter22 The good weather Saturday (Sept. 29) likely kept many local gardeners outside planting instead of inside listening to a lecture. However, that didn’t stop the London Middlesex Master Gardeners from holding their annual fall event at the Stoney Creek YMCA Community Centre. The event featured a pair of guest speakers and served as a fundraiser for Growing Chefs Canada. Up for discussion was the Dig, Drop, Done bulb program, followed by a presentation on saving seeds, provided by Frances Thorn, a volunteer with Seeds of Diversity. Donna Slater, co-ordinator London Middlesex Master Gardeners, said the goal of the organization was to keep local gardening fans up-to-date on the latest techniques. “We want to get the correct gardening advice out to the public. We do that through events like this and through the gardening classes we do too.” For more information on London Middlesex Master Gardeners visit www.londonmiddlesexmastergardeners.com.
