Man arrested after stolen vehicle strikes cruiser

A 31-year-old man has been arrested after a stolen vehicle collided with a London police cruiser.
On Friday (Oct.12), at approximately 10:55 a.m., police observed a stolen vehicle being operated in the area of Wharncliffe Road North. This vehicle had also been involved in thefts of gasoline within the city.
The vehicle struck a marked police vehicle as it exited a parking lot, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The driver of the stolen vehicle caused damage to private property prior to the collision.
Police arrested Jeffrey Manders, of no fixed address, a short distance away. The officer operating the police vehicle did not suffer any injuries.
Manders has been charged with possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, leaving the scene of an accident, impaired (by drug) operation of a motor vehicle and obstruct/resist arrest. One of these charges have been proven in a court of law.
