Eight girls charged with criminal harassment in London bullying case

London Community News

London Police Service is currently investigating a bullying incident at London South Collegiate Institute (371 Tecumseh Ave. E.). The investigation has revealed that a student had been the target of physical, emotional and cyber bullying. The police investigation has led to the arrest of eight young offender females on charges of criminal harassment. London Police Service and the Thames Valley District School Board are sending a clear message that bullying will not be tolerated in our community.  According to police, “the behaviour exhibited by these students is reprehensible and will be appropriately dealt with by the Criminal Justice System.” Information about the bullying behaviour came from direct disclosures and an anonymous reporting portal, “South Cares,” which was available on the London South Collegiate website. Because individuals came forward, directly and anonymously, the London Police Service and the Thames Valley District School Board were able to support the victim, ensure the victim was safe, and then address the bullying behaviour. The investigation is continuing and additional charges may result. None of the current charges have been proven in a court of law.
