The calls to step aside until the conclusion of the RCMP investigation into payments made to the Marconi Club for his son’s wedding seven years continue to dog London Mayor Joe Fontana.
On Monday (Nov. 5), the voices of Occupy London joined the growing chorus of discontent aimed at the mayor’s continued silence on the matter, staging an early evening protest on the steps of City Hall.
“We’re drawing attention to concerns that the current investigation of our mayor is causing difficulties with council to do the business of representing the people,” said Alexandra Baron.
Speaking on behalf of the small but concerned group, Baron also expressed unease over the way Fontana has handled the city during his tenure as mayor and a lack of transparency at city hall in general, “this being a wonderful example of that.”
