Close to 600 guests made their way down to the London Convention Centre on Tuesday night (Non. 14) to celebrate the annual Pillar Community Innovation Awards.
Recognizing individuals, nonprofits and businesses that are making London a better place, “it’s a night to shine a light on those who are making our community brighter,” said Michelle Baldwin, executive director Pillar Nonprofit Network.
This is the sixth year for the event with one award being presented in each of the four categories — Innovation, Leadership, Impact and Collaboration.
There were three nominees in each category. Award recipients were determined by a selection committee composed of past recipients and individuals representing funding organizations and the business community, recognizing how the finalists contribute to the community’s vibrancy and vitality.
Baldwin is proud not just of the success of the event, which has grown over the years from 200 to the 600 guests out on Tuesday, but also the engagement of the community. “The event is really about telling stories,” she said. “To have that many more people hear these inspiring stories and hopefully walk out of the room, doing their part to make London better.”
