The London Convention Centre was abuzz on Monday night (Nov. 19) with approximately 450 guests on hand for the 2012 Leaders in Innovation Dinner.
In addition to the presentation of the 2012 J. Allyn Taylor International Prize in Medicine to Dr. Reggie V. Edgerton, professor, UCLA Department of Neurobiology and Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology, researchers from the Robarts Research Institute were also recognized.
Performing groundbreaking spinal cord research, the work of Lynne Weaver, Greg Dekaban, Arthur Brown, Paula Foster and their teams were acknowledged at the event.
The highlight of the evening for many however, was a chance to listen to award-winning actor Alec Baldwin speak on stage in conversation with journalist Heather Hiscox. Touching on a range of topics from his career to politics, philanthropy and Twitter, Baldwin engaged the audience as he talked about his relationship with his friend and fellow actor Christopher Reeve, who died in 2004, as well as his personal commitment to spinal cord research.
