Two people arrested on weapons, firearms and drug charges

Two people, including a London woman, are facing a slew of weapons, firearms and drug charges after police raided a home in Middlesex County Wednesday morning (Jan. 8).

At around 5 a.m., members of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) – Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU), the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), members of the West Region Tactical Response Unit (TRU), West Region Canine, Middlesex County OPP Crime Unit and members of the Middlesex County OPP executed a search warrant at an address on Cedar Swamp Road in North Middlesex.

During the search of the residence police located and seized an undisclosed amount of suspected marihuana, two firearms and various weapons. The estimated street value of the suspected drugs is just over $10, 000.

As a result of the investigation police have charged Andrew Barlett, 35, of North Middlesex with:

• Five counts - Possession of Firearm, etc, while Prohibited;

• Two counts - Breach of Firearms Regulation;

• Two counts - Unauthorized Possession of Firearm;

• Two counts - Unauthorized Possession of Weapon;

• Knowledge - Unauthorized Possession of Weapon;

• Two counts - Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm;

• Possession for the Purpose Schedule II under 3 kg; and

• Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition.

Police also charged Tara Lynn Martin, 36, of London with:

• Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition;

• Two counts - Breach of Firearms Regulation;

• Two counts - Unauthorized Possession of Firearm;

• Unauthorized Possession of Weapon; and

• Possession for the Purpose Schedule II under 3 kg.

None of these charges have been proven in a court of law.
