Minneapolis-based Target, which is expected to shake up the retail market in Ontario when it begins opening stores in the next few months, has opened applications for debit and credit cards in Canada.
The discount retailer, which has its Canadian head office in Mississauga, says Canadians can now sign up for its Redcard debit and RBC Mastercard products online.
Use of the brand-loyalty cards means a reduction of five per cent on purchases.
"Target's Redcard Rewards program is a key part of our 'expect more, pay less' brand promise, offering guests an additional five per cent savings on top of our already low prices," said Tony Fisher, president of Target Canada. "We know our guests value the instant savings that come with a Redcard and we want to ensure Canadian guests apply now so they are ready when their neighbourhood Target store opens its doors."
Two Target stores are opening in London this spring - one in Masonville Place and Westmount Shopping Mall.
