Blackfriars Bridge is for emergency repairs.
The historical bridge, which connects Ridout Street to Wharncliffe Road, has some loose boards on the deck, according to Edward Soldo, the city’s director of roads and transportation.
He said the bridge was closed almost exactly one year ago for a similar reason. Crews are at the bridge now assessing how long repairs will take.
The walkway connecting Gibbons Park and Harris Park, which extends over the bridge, remains open.
“We have to remember the historical nature of the bridge,” Soldo said. “Because of its age it tends to have issues on a more routine basis than modern bridges.”
