A Fanshawe College professor has cooked his way on to Team Canada.
Award-winning chef de cuisine Scott Baechler leaves on Monday (Nov. 18) for Basel, Switzerland to compete in the Salon Culinaire Mondial international culinary Olympics (Nov. 23-27).
In addition to presenting two cold-plated entries, Chef Baechler will go head-to-head with a Team Switzerland chef live in front of approximately 8,000 spectators, preparing appetizers and his signature lobster salad.
The World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) and the Swiss chefs' association (SKV) stages the Salon Culinaire Mondial every six years.
It is one of the big three prestigious international team-cooking competitions, alongside the Culinary World Cup (Luxembourg, 2014) and the Culinary Olympics (Germany, 2016).
