Not fair to penalize for adherence to the rules on water conservation (letter)

London Community News

Dear editor, We follow the rules, conserve our water by using less and sticking to the odd/even day bylaws and now 20 years later we’re penalized by charging those who use less, more, and those who use more, less. I suspect 15-20 years from now we’ll see hydro announce that in addition to paying off its debt, and because we were all wise and cost effective and only used the majority of our electricity in the “off peak” hours, they too will need to increase their rates because they didn’t foresee us being so wise. It’s interesting how much garbage people will swallow when in fact the problem lies with the management who really don’t know how to manage and, more importantly, aren’t held accountable for their mistakes. It’ll be interesting to see who steps up to the plate next to introduce another gouge on the ratepayers.
