A storm bearing the name of Summerside blew into the John Labatt Centre (JLC) on Thursday night (Feb. 2), and came close to upsetting what should have been a relatively easy win for the London Lightning in National Basketball League of Canada action.
Playing against London for the fourth time this season, the Summerside Storm kept pace with the league leading Lightning almost shot for shot the entire game but still came up short, dropping a 113-107 decision to the Forest City fan favourites.
DeAnthony Bowden had the hot hand for the home team, scoring 25 points on the night with Shamari Speers, Tim Ellis and Eddie Smith each counting for 22, 21 and 20 respectively.
The Lightning hit the floor at the JLC again at 2 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 5) taking on Oshawa one last time on the regular season schedule before heading east for another date with Summerside on Feb. 9.
