Four London Rippers will be heading to the Corn Crib ballpark in Normal, Illinois to take part in the 2012 Frontier League All-Star Game July 11.
London first baseman, Joash Brodin, made the cut onto the East team, playing in his third straight all-star game. Brodin currently leads the league with a .389 batting average and is tied on the Rippers for the most home runs with seven long balls.
Rippers’ catcher, Jim Vahalik was also selected to the East team, backing up Florence Freedom’s Jim Jacquot, along with Marcus Nidiffer from the Traverse City Beach Bums.
Two Rippers’ pitchers were also picked with Mississauga-native Jamie Richmond and Yohan Gonzalez getting the all-star nod on a staff of eight aces on the East squad.
Richmond has a 4-2 record over 63.2 innings (a Rippers’ best) with a 2.69 ERA.
Gonzalez enters his start tonight with a 3-2 record and a 2.21 ERA—third best in the league.
