London Community News
The London City Soccer Club might be just starting to find their stride and have now pulled together three straight wins after only rallying off one victory in the opening 11 games of the season.
The latest win for London showed grit from the home team at TD Waterhouse Stadium after the Brantford Galaxy started the matchup with two quick goals within the opening 15 minutes of the Friday matchup (Aug. 3).
By halftime, SC managed to cut the Galaxy lead to 2-1 with a goal from Younan Samra at the 29 minute mark.
In the second half, London took control of the game by scoring three goals in four minutes with two scores from defender Nenad Nikolic and Samra finding the net for the second time of the night to complete the late game rally by the 83rd minute.
SC has won their first three matches of a seven game home set that runs until Aug. 24, opening the stretch with victories over basement dwellers St. Catharines Roma and Niagara United.
London’s win against the Galaxy hands the Canadian Soccer League’s fifth-place team just their fifth loss of the season.
SC will play their next game against the Montreal Impact at Cove Road Field Friday (Aug. 10) starting at 8:30 p.m..
