Sharks on hunt for BMO title

London Community News

Photos by Mike Maloney/London Community News/Twitter: mdmaloneyphoto The voting is now officially underway between the 15 youth soccer teams across Canada vying to be named to BMO Team of the Week 2012 Champion. With $125,000 towards refurbishing the winning team’s community soccer field, a trip to either a Canadian National team home match or Canadian Major League soccer game and $5,000 for the charity of their choice, there is a lot at stake. And nowhere is that competition more intense than here in London where there is not just one, but two teams vying for a shot at that title. Both the Nor’West Rebels U10 boys soccer team as well as the Southend United U12 Sharks have each qualified by having been named BMO Team of the Week over the course of the season. On Monday (Aug. 13) it was the Sharks welcoming Mayor Joe Fontana, London West MPP Chris Bentley and representatives from the Canadian Cancer Society to the BMO Centre for the official kickoff of their campaign for votes. Voting is open at www.BMOsoccer.com from now until and August 27 and anyone can vote once a day . The finalist with the most number of votes will be announced as BMO Team of the Week 2012 Champion on September 5. Find us on Facebook: London Community News
