Knights trade Athanasiou for draft picks

London Community News

The London Knights have traded Andreas Athanasiou to the Barrie Colts in exchange for the Mississauga Steelheads second round pick in the 2013 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection Draft, the Kingston Frontenacs third round pick in 2014 and a conditional second round choice from Barrie in the 2015 draft. The draft pickup from the Colts is only available to the Knights if Athanasiou plays for Barrie next year. The 18-year-old, from Woodbridge, Ont., has played the last two seasons in London, suiting up for a total of 120 regular season games for the Knights and contributing 33 goals and 26 assists in that time. Athanasiou was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the fourth round, 110th Overall, at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Find us on Facebook: London Community News
