The London Knights will have some time to work out the kinks after posting an Ontario Hockey League exhibition record of 3-2 before opening the regular season Sept. 21 against the Erie Otters at the John Labatt Centre.
The Knights closed out their preseason Saturday at the Timken Community Centre in a battle against the Plymouth Whalers where they won 3-1.
Alex Broadhurst and Chris Tierney both scored in the first period with Matt Rupert capping the scoring off for London midway through the second period.
Former Whalers goaltender Jake Patterson stopped 40-of-41 shots to backstop the Knights to the victory.
London and Plymouth were coming off a tilt Friday (Sept. 7) at the John Labatt Centre where the gloves were dropped four times between players.
The Knights were able to get the better of the Whalers, winning 6-4 where Bo Horvat scored a power play goal to push London to the win before Ryan Rupert finished with an empty-netter. London finished the game with five goals on special teams—one shorthanded by Seth Griffith to open the scoring.
Griffith and Ryan Rupert both netted two goals in the game, while defenceman Olli Maatta rounded out the scoring for the Knights.
