Come to the Covent Garden Market for fresh food and stay for the hockey.
More than 100 people came out Friday (Sept. 14) for the 12th annual Power Play for Easter Seals Kids – London, where the market square and Talbot Street, between King and Dundas streets, were turned into three enclosed road hockey pads.
More than 20 teams competed in the all day tournament with retired NHL enforcer David “The Hammer” Schultz on hand to help coach the team who fundraised the most money for Easter Seals.
Local Scotiabank branches formed several teams for the showdown, but the Cherryhill Mall office won the assistance of the NHL’s most penalized player in a season by contributing more than $4,000 to the $30,000 collected from the event.
