The home field advantage worked out for the Fanshawe Falcons as they soared at the school’s annual cross country invitational at Fanshawe Conservation Area on Saturday (Sept. 22).
A dozen schools came out for the second Ontario College Athletics Association meet of the year with the Falcons men’s team winning their third consecutive Fanshawe College Cross Country Invitational.
Taking the second and third spots in the 8 km race were two-time OCAA silver medalist Clint Smith and Josh Lumani. Out of 11 Falcon male runners, five placed in the top 20.
In the women’s 5 km race, Fanshawe finished as a team in second place behind defending provincial champions Humber College.
Falcons’ Jocelyn Fry won her second straight meet of the year with the only time below the 20-minute mark.
The Falcons cross country team will be heading to Barrie on Saturday (Sept. 29) to take part in the Georgian Invitational.
