Rackets were traded in for sticks at the North London Optimist Community Centre tennis courts Saturday (Sept. 22) for the 3 on 3 Face Off Against C.F. Road Hockey Tournament.
About 140 players split into 20 teams in the all day tourney for a 32-game round robin, finished with a championship in the competitive and recreational divisions.
Along with the tournament’s registration fees, money was collected through barbecue goods, a silent auction and a draw for a signed Jean Beliveau Montreal Canadians jersey to help raise more than $14,000 on the day.
This is the 10th year of the event that has brought in a little more than $100,000 over its time with all the money donated to cystic fibrosis research in London.
