On Saturday (Sept. 23) there was a full-house on hand at the London Squash Racquets Club (LSRC) to watch England’s Oliver Pett — ranked 58th in the world —and Julian Illingworth of the United States — ranked 31st in the world — battle it out in the final of this, the fifth edition of the event. Earning his berth in the final after defeating Clinton Leeuw the night before, Pett continued his winning ways taking the first game of the match against Illingworth by a score of 11-6. Leading 6-2 in the second game, Pett’s fortunes were about to change as Illingworth found his stride and rallied back to tie the match with an 11-9 victory in game two. From that point forward however, it was all Illingworth. Posting consecutive 11-6 scores, it was the 28-year old native of Portland, Oregon taking home the hardware and the winners share of the $10,000 in total purse money for the event.
