Mustang ladies tame China

London Community News

Photos by Mike Maloney/London Community News/Twitter: mdmaloneyphoto The Western Mustangs Women’s hockey club played once again assumed the role of international host on Friday night (Sept. 28). For the third year in a row, the Mustangs ladies welcomed Team China to London for an exhibition match played at the Thompson Arena. As in their past outings, Western may have played gracious hosts, but they were not about to let China’s Olympic squad show them up on home turf. Carrying a 2-1 lead into the second period, Western cranked up the offence with three unanswered goals in the mid-frame before switching into defensive mode for the third, coasting to a 5-1 victory. The Mustangs hit the ice of the Thompson Arena again next weekend when they open the 2012-13 regular season on Saturday (Oct. 6), against the Laurier Golden Hawks. They follow that up on Sunday afternoon with an afternoon tilt against Waterloo starting at 4 p.m. Find us on Facebook: London Community News
