Mustangs drop in national standings

London Community News

The Western Mustangs have taken another step back in the standings after falling to the nation’s best team in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport’s Top 10 standings. The Mustangs picked up their second loss of the season Saturday (Sept. 29) when the McMaster Marauders 33-27 win at TD Waterhouse Stadium dropped Western to the seventh spot after being in sixth place the last two weeks in the Football Reporters of Canada poll. McMaster sits at the top pile for the fifth consecutive week after receiving 29 first place votes from the 30-member panel. Western will take on the Guelph Gryphons next Saturday (Sept. 6) on the road. The Gryphons made their first appearance on the top 10 this week, landing in the ninth spot after a 22-19 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks. Ontario University Athletic teams lead the way in the national standings as fifth-place Queen’s Golden Gaels have also made the list. Find us on Facebook: London Community News
