The Western Mustangs took home both the men’s and women’s Ontario University Athletics’ Tennis Championship hosted at the Campus Tennis Centre in Oshawa, Ont. on Sunday (Oct. 7).
Western hadn’t claimed both titles since the 1992-93 season.
On the women’s side the Mustangs battled the Toronto Varsity Blues in the final two double matches to comeback from a half-point deficit to win the team title.
In the men’s competition, Western cleaned house by going undefeated and winning all six of their matches to claim the team championship. The Mustang men finished six points ahead of second-place York Lions.
Four of the six singles flights were won by Western males, giving the Mustangs their 15th overall Canadian Lawn Tennis Association Cup.
