London Community News

The London and District Ten Pin Bowling Association is holding its Annual Awards Banquet at Bowlerama Royale, 2086 Dundas St. E., on Saturday (Nov. 3) with two local bowlers being inducted into the organizations' Hall of Fame. Both Jill Friis and Dan Russo will be entering the association’s top honour in the Outstanding Performance category. Friis has the most London and District Bowler of the Year awards as a female and will add another one to her collection on Saturday when she’s donned with another of the titles. She has represented London in many provincial, national and international tournaments and holds the Canadian record for individual nine-game all-events with a total of 2,145 on Nov. 20, 2011. Russo has earned multiple London and District awards in the Male Bowler of the Year category. He has also competed locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally in the World Cup representing Southern Ontario. Other people winning awards on the night include Ryan Trussler picking up the Male Bowler of the Year, Justin Mitchell receiving Male Youth Bowler of the Year and Mykaela Mitchell being crowned the Female Youth Bowler of the Year after she broke the Canadian record for the youngest girl to bowl a 300. The awards banquet starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased from any of the London and District Ten Pin Bowling Association’s directors or by contacting 519-451-3146 or email ladtpba@rogers.com.
