The St. Thomas Aquinas (STA) Flames could … go … all … the … way.
The South East Senior Boy’s football champions are one win away from playing in the OFSAA Western Bowl at the Rogers Centre in Toronto on next Tuesday (Nov. 27) after dominating the St. Joseph’s Rams 41-17 at Citywide Field last Tuesday (Nov. 20) in the WOSSAA finale.
STA quarterback Jesse McNair had no problem finding his receivers, connecting with Jacob Scarfone twice in the endzone and once with Matt DeCicco, who closed out the scoring in the first half with his team up 25-3.
McNair also ran in a two-yard touchdown in the game, while Scarfone took home a 90-yard interception and hit two field goals.
This is the first time the Flames have made it to the Western Bowl semifinal and will take on the SWOSSAA champs Herman Green Griffins, from Windsor, on Friday (Nov. 23). The winner will play the CWOSSAA champ, which will be determined between Brantford’s Assumption College and Guelph’s John F. Ross on Thursday (Nov. 22).
