More than 3,000 London area youth are swarming the BMO Centre for the eight-day Scrooge Youth Indoor Soccer Tournament, which started Sunday (Dec. 23) and runs until Jan. 4.
About 150 teams are taking to the four fields at the Rectory Street building throughout the tourney with 500 games taking place.
Ranging from boys and girls under-10 to under-19 teams, each age group dominates the fields for one day with a round robin and championship all taking place within 24 hours.
This is the 14th edition of the annual tournament, being held only recently at the BMO Centre since its construction. In the past it was held at the Cuddy Boulevard Soccer Magic Inc.
With so much action being played, the volunteer-run Scrooge tourney has more than 100 people helping out.
