The Fanshawe Falcons men’s basketball squad may have been looking to soar on the scoreboard but the visiting Humber Hawks had other ideas.
Playing host to the Hawks on Wednesday night (Jan. 30), the Falcons looked to have found their stride and were well on the way to victory after opening up their Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) game with a strong showing in the third quarter.
Leading the game with just over four minutes remaining on the clock, the wheels seemed to fall off the Fanshawe bus after Humber regained the lead with 3:48 left to play.
Unable to muster an effect response to the surging Hawks, Fanshawe fans could only watch as their team would go down to a 80-70 defeat at the hands of their OCAA West division rivals.
With the loss, Fanshawe drops into third place in the West standings with a record of 12 wins against three losses.
Boyd Vassell lead the way for Fanshawe with 23 points while Chauvan Miller-Bennett posted his second straight 20+ point game, adding 21 points to the scoresheet.
The Falcons next see action on Friday (Feb. 2) when they make the trek east to Oakville for a date with the Sheridan Bruins.
