The first day of competition at the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships is officially in the books.
First on the ice was the pairs short program competition. The Canadian contingent of Meagan Duhamel and her partner Eric Radford joined with teammates Kirsten Moore-Towers and Dylan Moscovitch in bringing the largely partisan crowd to their feet with scores of 73.61 and 69.25 respectively.

Duhamel and Radford currently sit second in the pairs standings behind Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov of Russia while Moore-Towers and Moscovitch hold down fifth place.

In the men’s short program, Canada’s Patrick Chan leads the way after nailing his routine with a world-record score of 98.37. Fellow Canadian teammate Kevin Reynolds holds down third spot after bringing the Budweiser Gardens crowd to its feet earlier in the evening with a score of 85.16.
