The LONDON POTTERS GUILD is still accepting registration for the summer session of pottery classes for adults, teens, children and parent/child starting May 11, 2012. All classes are held at the London Clay Art Centre at 664 Dundas Street. New students are introduced to working with clay and will learn such things as hand building techniques, throwing on the potter’s wheel, sculpture, glazing and finishing. Returning students refine and develop their skills, as well as explore advanced pottery making techniques. At the end of the session, participants will have finished pottery pieces. New for this session is an advanced class “Wheel to Table - Dinnerware”. In this class you will learn how to design, throw, decorate and glaze the four parts of a dinner set: cup, side plate, dinner plate, and soup bowl. Students will be able to finish 2 of each piece during the session. All classes are limited to 10 students.

Our 2nd Annual National Fill-A-Truck Event will take place in 70 communities across Canada on Sat. May 19th. Help us reach our goal of collecting 1 million kgs of clothing by donating your clothing, shoes, hats, linen, drapes etc. as well as electronics and small household items. In London we will be at Rona Home & Garden, 1305 Commissioners Rd E. (at Highbury Ave.) and Rona Home & Garden, 820 Blythwood Rd., (Wonderland Rd. between Sarnia Rd. and Oxford St. at Beaverbrook Ave.) from 8am to 3pm. Please give generously as 100% of the proceeds go directly to benefit the Canadian Diabetes Association for research, education and to finding a cure.
