London Community News

Photo by Mike Maloney/London Community News/Twitter:@mdmaloneyphoto Rock the Park is back for an encore and fans weren't disappointed at the end of the first night of the three-day event at Harris Park. Monster Truck was first onto the Rock the Park stage followed by I Mother Earth before an early evening shower threatened to put a damper on the evening. But it wasn't long until the rain stopped and Bush took to the stage, getting the crowd pumped up for the night's feature act, Slash with Myles Kennedy. And there was no mistake who the thousand packing the park were here to see. The crowd erupted into a sea of cheers and fist pumps when the former Guns N' Roses guitarist walked out onto the stage. Rock the Park continues on Friday (July 27), starting at 4:30 p.m. when the Romantics step in front of the microphones. Next up is Canadian music icon David Wilcox at 6 p.m, followed by George Thurgood at 7:30 p.m. and then The Steve Miller Band wraps up the day starting at 9 p.m. The annual Rock the Park fundraiser has raised more than $1.2 million over the past eight years for Bethanys Hope Foundation to help in the fight against metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD).
