The fields of Middlesex County and beyond were alive with the sound of music on Sunday (Aug. 12), thanks to the Back to the Garden Roots Music Festival.
Hosted by the Jones family and The London Music Club, a few hundred roots music fans took advantage of the near perfect weather to attend this one-day festival held on the Jones family farm, just east of Dorchester.
Brent Jones was one of the organizers behind the day. He said that the music festival was more than just that, it was really a community event.
He pointed out that everyone from vendors to musicians to local farmers, has donated their time and energy to putting the festival together.
“It is very much a grass roots type of event, trying to get back to the way music festivals were back in their inception,” said Jones.
A total of 13 groups and performers including Jay Atwill, Samantha Hooey, Andy McGuire and the Cosmic Cowboys, took to the stage over the course of the day.
