Youth Mash Up 2012 (photos)

Photos by Mike Maloney/London Community News/Twitter: mdmaloneyphoto There was barely an empty seat in the house as some of London’s most talented took to the stage on Sunday night (Aug. 12) for the finals of the mindyourmind International Youth Mash Up 2012 at Wolf Performance Hall. Producer Derek (D.Lung), promoter Brandon Eedy and journalist Priya Mann, as well as guest performers including poet Inali Barger and motivational speaker/dancer Luca “LuazyLegz” Patuelli, judged the event featuring performances by five, local young artists and groups. Close to 30 entries were received for the competition with the top five performers being invited to compete at the finals on Sunday.  First place went out to dancers Sydney Desando and Carley Stastny. In second was another pair of dancers, Sydney McManus and Andrea Galizia, with soloist Jess Toso nailing down third. Mindyourmind — a non-profit mental health engagement program working with youth, young adults and the professionals that serve them — hosted the event in conjunction with International Youth Day, which acknowledges the participation and contribution of youth in their communities.
