The Pond Mills branch of the London Public Library will be hosting a hockey equipment exchange this Saturday (Aug. 18) between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The idea for the exchange came originally from Kevin Moore, who was the Pond Mills branch supervisor at the time of the first equipment exchange last summer.
Realizing a lot of families could not afford the expense of a child playing hockey, Moore, with the help of many in the community, set out gathering equipment for the drive. In all, more than 170 pieces of equipment were collected and made available to kids eager to play some hockey.
Again this year, library staff are encouraging donations of “game ready” hockey equipment (with the exception of helmets), which can be dropped off at the Pond Mills branch, located at 1166 Commissioners Rd East, during business hours between now and closing on Friday (Aug. 17).
Starting at 9 a.m. and running through until 4 p.m. Saturday, families and their young hockey hopefuls are encouraged to stop by the hockey equipment exchange at the branch and pick up, free of charge, what they need from the donated items.
