Whether you were born Italian or just planning to be adopted by Italy for a couple hours, there was fun for everyone at the Festa Italia at the Covent Garden Market “Piazza” on the weekend (Aug. 24-26).
Music from the old country blared over the speakers, while accordion, soprano singers, pianists and dancers performed throughout the weekend.
If anyone had any trouble with making their favourite Italian dish at home, demonstrations were also being held all three days teaching people how create pizzas and homemade pasta.
On Talbot Street, in front of the Covent Garden Market, the road was lined with food vendors handing out everything from veal parmesan to lasagna and if anyone left room in their stomach, they could enter into the cake and watermelon eating contests.
