The Western Fair, now in its 137th year, was officially opened Friday afternoon (Sept. 7) by Mayor Joe Fontana and other dignitaries.
In front of a crowd of about 50 people ringing cowbells made specially for the event, Fontana rang a ceremonial bell at the fair grounds to open the event.
The fair runs until Sept. 16.
