The wheels were spinning in Forwell Hall as boarders pulled out some of their best tricks, vying for top prize in the Fanshawe Game of S.K.A.T.E. on Wednesday (Sept. 12).
S.K.A.T.E., similar to H.O.R.S.E. in basketball, works when one boarder sets a trick and the other participants respond by trying to do the same trick. In a nutshell, if a player doesn’t land the trick, he or she receives an “S,” “K,” “A,” “T” or “E.” Once the person receives all letters, he or she is out of the game.
Sponsored by the Fanshawe Student Union and The Boardshop, a total of 16 riders entered in the event, a first of its kind at the college.
First place went out to Chris Barr, followed by Sam Clayworth finishing second and Dave Hnatiuk rounding out the top three in third.
