City Art Centre turns 20

London Community News

Photo by Mallory Clarkson/London Community News/Twitter: @MalloryClarkson A handful of people gathered at the City Art Centre for a quaint gala Saturday night (Sept. 22) at its Elizabeth Street location to celebrate 20 years of operation. The centre is a member-run drop-in studio and gallery for adults who face mental health challenges, whether that be self-identified, self-responsible or self-directed. Organizers of the event said with art supplies being offered to participants, the centre heavily relies on sponsors — such as the City of London, Agape Foundation of London, Thorndale Optimists and the London Arts Council — and donations. There will also be a Christmas art sale at the centre weekdays throughout December from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.myspace.com/cityart_centre.
