The Eldon House held its Great Eldon House Ghost Hunt on Sunday (Oct. 28). Visitors to the historic home were given a map of the grounds, which identified the locations of numerous ghost sightings and strange happenings that have occurred in the house over the years.
Prominent among them is the story of Wenman Wynniatt, a 19th-century soldier who appeared to his lady friend the night before his body was discovered in the Thames.
His pocket watch was shown to have stopped at the moment he appeared the night before.
The Eldon House will next host a Behind the Ropes tour, which will showcase parts of the building not often seen by the public, on Sunday (Nov. 4).
