On most days, the atrium of the London Health Sciences Cente’s (LHSC) London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP) is a hive of activity.
On Thursday afternoon (Dec. 13) however, the hustle and bustle was replaced with the festive sounds of Christmas performed by some very familiar faces to patients at the facility.
Known as The Clinic Notes, seven LCRP medical oncologists — Dr. Kylea Potvin (soprano), Dr. Muriel Brackstone (alto), Dr. Scott Ernst (baritone), Dr. Alex Louie (tenor), Dr. Michael Sanatani (cello), Dr. Maria Parent (alto) and radiation oncologist, Dr. David D’Souza (piano) — traded in their stethoscopes for sheet music and performed a selection of traditional holiday favourites for both patients and staff.
Together now for the past five years, various physicians have taken on roles with the Clinic Tones during that time. The annual Christmas concert though has been a mainstay for the group that many look forward to every year.
“The theme of our performance is hope, and what better time to share that message than Christmas?” said Dr. Scott Ernst in a media release. “This performance gives us the opportunity to share a part of who we are that our patients and staff would not normally have a chance to see. We appreciate having the chance to share the spirit of the season with our patients and staff.”
